Im getting back into xcom 2 after save scumming my way through my first campaign. I haven't really encountered anything major yet, though. Just keep in mind that with the recent release of the beloved /s 2K launcher, a lot of users have been experiencing issues with certain mods. As I said, I don't really use many overhauls yet. Other mods I use are mostly cosmetic, examples being: WOTC Even More Backstories, Birthdates and More Nations and Names. These mods make the game a lot smoother in that regard. The reason being is that XCOM 2 has a lot of bugs and annoyances that take up a lot of time, and I think you might be familiar with those as you played through the game twice - reload times taking ages, grenade shots taking ages, individual EVACs, picking up loot, enemy turns, patrols of enemy units when you have that fucking sitrep that shows all your enemies. For example, I use almost all of the mods provided at the bottom of this steam guide. I'm not really an expert on overhaul mods or mods in general, but I can help you forward a bit. If you want a tactical and strategic overhaul with a long campaign, then use LWotC. If you want a tactical overhaul with a short campaign, then use A Better Everything. TL DR: If you're just looking to spice things up, then use ABA. Long War 2 is amazing in its own way (and I imagine that LWotC is as well), but A Better ADVENT changes fewer core systems, doesn't take as long to play through, and, in my opinion, has a better collection of new enemies.

That said, I plan on using the A Better Everything modlist on my next playthrough, with perhaps one or two exceptions such as ABM. ABAI and ABR were great, ABC was interesting but very challenging, and I didn't care for ABM. The only mods of his that I've used are A Better AI (which is fully integrated into ABA), A Better Chosen, A Better Repeater, and A Better Militia. I'm only partly speaking from personal experience. Another good option may be the A Better Everything collection of mods by DerBK.
